1789 is one of the most known and the most important dates of the universal history: the year of the beginning of the French Revolution. In 1989 Opinel commemorated the bicentenary with this N°08 having an exceptional handle: instead of the normal one, this was made after the original sculpture by Adrien Frossard and represents a stylised head wearing the symbols of the French Revolution: the Phrygian cap and the French tricolor cockade. Sources mention 17000 numbered pieces, the handle is in beautiful wild cherry (Prunus avium).

En 1989 Opinel a commémoré le bicentenaire avec ce N°08 ayant un manche exceptionnel : au lieu du standard, c'est un manche fait d'après la sculpture d'Adrien Frossard. Son bout représente une tête stylisée portant des symboles de la Révolution : le bonnet phrygien et la cocarde tricolore. Les sources mentionnent 17 000 pièces numérotées, le manche est en joli merisier (Prunus avium).
1789 a világtörténelem egyik legismertebb és legfontosabb dátuma: ekkor kezdődött a nagy francia forradalom. Ennek kétszázadik évfordulójára született ez az egészen különleges nyolcas: nem sztenderd formájú a nyele, hanem Adrien Frossard faragása alapján készült, és a forradalom két jelképét, a francia trikolór-kokárdával díszített frígiai sapkát viselő stilizált fejet ábrázol. A források szerint 17000 darab készült, a nyél fája szépséges vadcseresznye (Prunus avium).
